The orientation and placement of the outdoor courtyards became a defining driver of the design. A conventional north-facing outdoor zone would have been heavily overshadowed by neighbouring structures, limiting its usability. Instead, the strategy introduces two south-side courtyards — one positioned to capture morning sun at the rear, and another oriented for afternoon light at the front. This dual-courtyard arrangement expands how the outdoor spaces can be used throughout the day while maximising the site’s potential. When the bi-fold doors are open, the home reads as a continuous, free-flowing sequence from front to rear.

Spatial planning, ceiling volumes, and the scale and placement of openings are carefully orchestrated to shape the internal experience. Natural light is drawn into the home from multiple directions, animating the interiors and reinforcing a sense of vitality and openness.

Externally, the architectural language blends pitched and flat roof forms, acknowledging the surrounding gabled context while maintaining a contemporary expression. A southern metal-clad wall extends upward to become the roof plane in a single, continuous gesture, reinforcing the building’s sculptural quality.

Material selections are guided by performance as much as aesthetics. Durable finishes and thermally responsive construction support long-term resilience while maintaining a cohesive palette that carries throughout the project, adding texture and depth to the spaces.

Sustainability principles are embedded in the design through straightforward, effective strategies that enhance comfort and efficiency. The result is a home that demonstrates how lifestyle ambitions can be realised through a disciplined, environmentally responsive design process.
